INNOVATIVE AND COMMUNITY-CENTERED

RESEARCH AND EVALUATION SERVICES

AFG believes that when communities of color are leaders and experts of their own stories, the research gains greater depth, specificity, and insight. Through an iterative process of discovery, discussion and design, AFG can provide organizations and institutions support girls and gender-expansive youth stories and experiences and refine their data and knowledge creation process to empower their own stories of impact. We do this through two key research approaches: Participatory Action Research and Transformational Evaluation.

Our Participatory Action Research Services can:

  • Include Youth and Community-based Participatory Action Research (YPAR and CBPAR) and Youth Participatory Evaluation (YPE)

  • Help your organization commit to participatory and community-driven meaning-making and solutions-building

  • Train girls, gender-expansive youth, and communities to be their own researchers to collect and analyze data

  • Highlight storytelling as a tool for solution and world building

Our Transformational Evaluation Services can:

  • Create and refine research and evaluation strategies and systems that center girls & gender-expansive youth

  • Build evaluation capacity that reflects community values and stories

  • Provide technical assistance to staff that transform organizational culture

  • Shiftevaluation frameworks, which engages all youth, communities, staff, leadership, and stakeholders

  • Create mutual learning partnerships
